KMFDM TOUR POSTER (War Bus) As part of their promotional campaign for their upcoming tour, industrial group KMFDM commissioned me to come up with something appropriate. Inspired by WW1 armoured mini tanks and modern anti-riot vehicles, I set about creating a hybrid more suited to the band’s image than the traditional tour bus. After creating […]
In support of the Femen/Pussy Riot protestors, I created a suitably forceful chainsaw-wielding amazon for the front cover of the new KMFDM album, ‘Kunst’. Since their incarceration for various anti-Putin stunts and protests, international support for the women of the movement has grown exponentially, mostly due to their bare-chested style of defiance. (see Femen cross-felling […]
A detail of singer Lucia Cifarelli from KMFDM’s band artwork from a few years back and now available from the BRUTE! blog shop as either a 240gm. photo stock or framed canvas print. Each print is signed by the artist and numbered from a limited edition of 500 (photo stock) and 250 (canvas).
To commemorate the passing of one of the greatest hit men ever to grace the screen, I created this vector illustration of steely ex-cop turned meth dealer muscle, Mike Ehrmantraut, again represssing the urge to blow Walter White’s scheming brains out. He shall be sorely missed. Prints of the Breaking Bad character are available from the […]
For the second of my sportrait series for online gambling site Buddybet, we decided to run a poll on Facebook to find the world’s most popular footballer. Despite heavy competition, David Beckham came out a clear winner and it is in his honor than I created this illustration depicting the moment before he scored that […]
As part of my recent sportraits series, I was commissioned to tackle New Orleans Saints’ receiver Marques Colston in the traditional BRUTE! style. Keep checking the blog for new sportraits in the coming months.
I was asked by several people why I hadn’t yet created a portrait of basketball wunderkind, Jeremy Lin, so I illustrated this portrait of him while his star was still in the ascendancy. While I originally planned to draw the sportsman in a Chinese Communist propaganda style, the resulting sketches didn’t quite capture his down-to-earth personality nor […]
It’s been almost 20 years since I last created a portrait of Tony Montana (Scarface), surely one of the most iconic characters ever to have blasted their way out of a movie screen. Since its less-than prestigious reception in 1983, Brian De Palma’s blazing gangster epic has become even more famous than its illustrious genre […]
For KMFDM‘s 2011 US tour, I was commissioned to create my own interpretation of Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’, using band front man and industrial legend, Sascha Konietsko, as inspiration for the main figure. The illustration was subsequently used on a range of merchandise currently accompanying the band across the U.S. of A. Media: Sharpie, Japanese calligraphic brush pen, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
Two versions of the current KMFDM tour T-shirt. Should be available from the band’s site soon or you can buy one on their latest tour.
As part of my 30-minute Portrait series I decided, once again, to draw a man of senior years and created this vector sketch of Irish avant-garde novelist, playwright, theatre director, and poet Samuel Beckett. Beckett is widely regarded as among the most influential writers of the 20th century. Strongly influenced by James Joyce, he is considered one of […]
To celebrate the start of Season 4 of the excellent US TV series Breaking Bad, I thought I would mark the event by creating my own Walter White/Heisenberg portrait. These are available for purchase through the BRUTE! shop as signed and numbered prints from a special edition series of 400. Place your order now.
I’ve been working for clothing company Atomic Hard Wear for most of this year, designing logos and animations for their web site and merchandising line. Ray, the owner, wanted an atomic symbol as the main graphic so we spent a few weeks toying with various versions before deciding on this industrial-looking, bolted girder effect. Get […]
My KMFDM Room Obsessive fan and collector Tim Lawler walks us through his astounding collection of KMFDM merchandising. Good work, Tim! watch?v=cND52W7T9e0&feature=player_embedded
My logo for Canadian band, Texas Blood Money (don’t ask), inspired in part by the iconic RKO film ident. Created in Illustrator. Available as T-shirts from their site soon. Look out for upcoming album and tour dates at their web site here.
As part of an upcoming project with film production company Nomad, I created this Flash animated logo depicting a man observing a mountain range from a grassy cliff edge. Stay tuned for more images from this project.
To commemorate a year since the death of legendary bassist, Peter Steele, I was asked by several fans to illustrate a portrait of the great man in action. Printed on 200gm photo-art paper and signed by the artist, these dynamic posters capture the intensity of the performer as he will be forever remembered. Petrus T. Ratajczyk (January 4, […]
I was asked by Sascha Konietsko of KMFDM to come up with a band illustration for their new album, Krank. Using several photos of the band onstage from their last tour, I spent a couple of weeks sketching the various members before building the scene in 3D and lighting it accordingly. I then inked the […]
An old friend contacted me recently telling me she’d discovered some old photos of myself and fellow BRUTE! author, Malcolm Bennett, taken when we were publicising our unique range of T-shirts. Photographed by Dick Jude (of Forbidden Planet/Titan Publishing) in the then Cafe Munchen in London’s West End circa 1986-7, it shows the youthful literary […]
RED DARE – click to enlarge Inspired by Frank Hampson’s Dan Dare comics and the Rev. W. Awdry Thomas the Tank Engine book series, this retro-futurist hover train comes hot off the BRUTE! presses this week. Printed on 200gm. photo stock in blazing scarlet, this gorgeous poster will set your wall on fire (not really). […]
Due to an unprecedented workload, my only Stateside appearance this year will be as part of a group show entitled ‘Protest vs. Propaganda’ at the Sacred Gallery in New York. Appearing alongside your humble narrator will be works by such luminaries of the graphic art world as Adam Hays, Max Grundy and Shepard Fairey amongst […]
I was commissioned to come up with a suitably dynamic image for this year’s High Jump freestyle diving competition here in the Czech Republic. Much of the artwork I’d seen for similar events had been from photographic sources that focused mostly on side shots so I wanted instead to use an improbable POV to heighten […]
The BRUTE! show continues its relentless push across the city of Prague as it moves into its newest home in the heart of the historical Mala Strana district. Covering three rooms of the gallery, the exhibition includes several large canvas digital prints, custom BRUTE! skate decks and T-shirts and will continue for until July 4th […]
Courtesy of Twisted Sticker in Toronto, BRUTE! are proud to unleash our latest monster onto the marketplace. At a pugilistic 52 inches across, this empowering emblem will stun the neighbours into oblivion when they see it emblazoned across your SUV or dirtbike. Made from weather-resistant vinyl and delivered in custom BRUTE! packing tubes, the FIST […]
